Four Ways to Improve Consistency Today

Quarantine has changed us all. The things we once took for granted we now value more than ever. One of my goals for this lock-down period was to leave in a better state mentally and physically. I can proudly share today that I’ve done that in at least one way. I AM WAY MORE CONSISTENT!

It took me a while to see it within myself but it’s true. I haven’t been this consistent with anything in my life since I was studying for the CPA exams in 2017. How did I achieve this? Today, I’m sharing four ways that I was able to grow my consistency into something that is recognizable within myself and others.

1. Create a plan

It sounds simple enough but a lot of people underestimate the power of planning. Creating a plan has hugely helped me to stay consistent with creating content on my blog, Instagram, and Youtube platforms. I use both digital and physical planners because it’s THAT serious (lol). When I forget to plan, my week floats into disarray and I’m left scrambling things together last minute which is never good. Save a life. Buy a planner.

2. Find a friend

Quarantine has caused me to realize that I am trash at motivating myself to exercise. I always start off strong but twindle off a few weeks later. Currently, I’ve been working out consistently now for over 3 months and that is crazy! What’s changed? I started working out with my friends. They have kept me on track and at it on the daily. Having someone counting on your physical presence is a mental shift. Adding a friend is really a game-changer when it comes to staying consistent!

3. Start a challenge

From the end of March now, I’ve completed two fitness challenges and one content challenge. Currently, I am in the middle of completing another fitness challenge, AND this month’s #MJConsistencyChallenge on blogging. I am living proof that challenges can change you! The truth is I didn’t expect myself to be as consistent as I’ve been during these challenges. What motivates me is the thought that thousands of people around the world are going through what I’m going through right now. I keep telling myself that I owe it not only to myself but to my community to see things through to the finish line. I highly recommend trying a challenge if you haven’t tried one before. It has done wonders for me!

4. Remember your why

Your why is why you started a particular thing in the first place – so why you started a blog, why you started to eat healthier, etc.. I cannot stress this enough but you need to know your why and write it down! Place it somewhere that easy for you to get back when needed. This is your consistency key! Anytime you feel unmotivated or you feel like quitting, read your why. Reflect on the reason you got started it all. Trust me y’all – it works every single time!

These are honest actions that I’ve implemented over the past four months or so. They have helped me boost my consistency tremendously, especially in my content creation and fitness journey. Do you struggle with consistency too?
